Gold as a hedge against inflation & uncertainty

Gold price in Vietnam is usually cheaper than world market price. An additional bonus is that
you get >2% interest if you deposit your gold bullion with the bank.

How about investing in agricultural land since
soft commodities(food) are getting scare?
Bio-fuel production took a huge chunk of it.

Don't blame you. Global stock markets are just too damn depressing these days. Vietnam included!

I confess, I have been tempted by gold & commodities for some time myself.

Had not considered the idea of interest on bullion deposited in VN, though. Thanks for the tip. But still I have some reservations about hoarding yellow metal in the bank.

I am optimistic about the alt-energy field, but still early days and very hard to pick winners. So would favor a basket approach there.

Ag land play could be interesting, but how to play it? Either in VN or elsewhere...

Any thoughts?
